Turning auto-renew on or off for a domain
Step by step instructions for changing whether a domain renews itself, and what happens when you do.
On this page
Auto-renew decides whether your domain renews automatically before it expires, or whether you renew it yourself. You can change it at any time, in the client area.
Turn auto-renew off
- Sign in to the client area (opens in a new tab) and open Products & Services.
- Choose the domain.
- Open the Settings tab.
- Press Turn off auto-renew.
You must renew it yourself
With auto-renew off, your domain keeps working until the end of its paid period, and then it stops. If you let it expire you can lose it permanently, and someone else may register it. To keep it, renew it before then: a manual renewal issues the next invoice, which you pay under Invoices in the client area.
Turn auto-renew on
- Open the domain the same way, through Products & Services.
- Open the Settings tab.
- Press Turn on auto-renew.
The same for every service
Hosting plans and your other services renew the same way. Open the service under Products & Services and use its Settings tab.
