Backups for your website
How your hosting is backed up and how to restore your site.
On this page
Your hosting includes automatic backups, so you are covered if something goes wrong.
How backups work
- Your files, databases and email are backed up every day, automatically.
- Backups are stored at a separate location, away from your website’s server.
- We keep 30 days of backups, so you can go back to an earlier point.
- On Plus and Pro, WP Plus and WP Pro, and every managed VPS, you can also take a backup yourself, for example before a big change.
Restore your site
You can restore a whole site or a single file yourself, from your hosting control panel. Open it from your plan’s page under Products & Services in the client area (opens in a new tab), and choose the point you want to restore. If you are not sure which backup to use, contact support and we will help you pick the right one.
Keep your own copy too
Automatic backups are a strong safety net, but it is good practice to keep your own copy of anything important as well, especially before making big changes to your site.
